Natia Matcharashvili

I was born in the small country of Georgia and raised in an immigrant family as the eldest daughter of two dedicated and remarkable parents who sacrificed immensely for our family. Growing up under the weight of expectations, I was driven to embody the role of the flawless, successful daughter. Amidst these pressures, I found solace and freedom in art. At the age of 15, I discovered my passion for painting, particularly with acrylics and oils. The first time I held a brush and felt the paint glide across the canvas, I experienced a profound sense of liberation—the freedom to embrace imperfections.

This newfound freedom allowed me to explore without fear of mistakes, to venture in any direction, and to begin anew with each canvas. My daily environment fuels my creativity, inspiring the abstract themes, color theory, and line work that characterize my art. I paint to express myself, creating pieces that invite viewers to construct their own interpretations without the constraints of a defined context.

In my work, I intentionally avoid a single perspective or predetermined narrative. I believe art is most impactful when it allows the observer to craft their own story. This approach reflects my philosophy that there is no inherent story until the brush touches the canvas—what emerges is spontaneous, its essence shaped in the moment, whether by accident or design.

My personal style is driven purely by emotion, allowing me to incorporate abstraction and break free from societal expectations and the internalized pursuit of perfection. This shift not only liberates my creative process but also deepens my exploration of the subconscious, offering a true sense of freedom in abstract expression.

The works displayed in my gallery embody these principles. Each piece is an invitation to viewers to experience art as a personal journey, interpreting and finding meaning in it on their own terms.
